ULIHATU - The Nature's Paradise

ULIHATU - The birth place of Bhagwan Birsa Munda


Ulihatu is an interior place in Khunti District and it is almost 60 kms from Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Now, why my first article is about Ulihatu? Because, I had recent visit to this place and had unforgettable memory. I was in Ranchi & my co-brother-in-law suggested this place. Being in travel trade, I wanted to explore this "unexplored destination" which is the birth place of Bhagwan* Birsa Munda.

Bhagwan Birsa Munda is very famous freedom fighter and the entire Jharkhand praises him a lot. I wanted to visit his birth-place and it was amazing feeling seeing his ancestral home. This is now renovated by Jharkhand Government. Apart from this historical importance, this place is very rich in flora & fauna and I want to emphasis on this part.

The journey from leaving the Khunti city till Ulihatu is just awesome. This journey was off-beat with smooth pitch road, greenery was unparalleled and the experience was just unforgettable. There were so many trees, which were huge and beyond ages. So, the Ulihatu is about terrains, mountains, small streams & the lovely people.

I've just captured only 10% of the visit in my camera as I was on the steering wheel. Also, I was there for short visit as I didn't expected this much from this unexplored place. After visiting this place, I felt Ulihatu of Jharkhand from Bhagwan Birsa Munda fame is not less exciting & amazing than Shimla, Manali & others hill stations. This place is so natural & undisturbed. 

Whenever, I will visit Ranchi, Jharkhand again, I will make sure to visit Ulihatu with ample of time, so that I can get more videos & photos to promote this place. People here are responsible & co-operate with outer world people. We need to care their privacy & their Jungle, Nature, Land & animals.

    Just imaging its beauty as I read it.
    I always feel Ranchi is filled with so many unknown spots that are filled with natural beauty..In my next visit will expolre such palces including Ulihatu 🙂

    I believe there are many waterfalls and wildlife sanctuaries around. Hope on your next trip there, you can visit some and enlighten us with more info!

      It is in my diary to visit again and certainly cover more. Yes, there are 9 water falls & the most famous are Dasham, Panch Gagh, Johna & Hundru. Due to Corona period, they were closed for public visit.

      Yes.. very true... alone Ranchi is having 9 water falls & few sanctuaries to explore.. Dasham, Jogna, Panch Gagh, Hundru are few known n famous one... but they were closed due to corona during my visit... but will come with more post.. Thanks a lot

    Very well written. I strongly believe that travelling is part of education. We have vast history of many travellers who had try to explore the world and discovered the different and unique civilization. if you refer the history then you will find many travellers like Ibn Battuta, Zhang He and Marco Polo had a record miles of travellings. We still remember the first chinese traveller Fa Hien travelled to India to discover Buddhist scripture.The great thing involved in his traveling was that he covered whole distance by foot. The another chinese traveller, Hiuen Tsang travelled to India and spoke about the paramount Power of our King Harshvardhan.
    If I will not mention the name of Christopher Columbus then the history of travell will not accomplish. we can't forget the discovery of red Indian by him. The great contribution of Vasco Da Gama who navigated through Africa to calicut by ruling the waves of ocean and laid the sea route for India.
